The inn itself was retro and cute,
and I felt it embodied the essence of the good old days!
Everything was clean, and even the smallest details, like gargling cups, were well-thought-out. I'm glad I stayed at Shimayado Yuushin.
I made a reservation over the phone, but it turned out to be their regular day off, which was a bit of a hassle. However, the kind owner offered to open the inn for a room-only stay, so I ended up staying there without meals.
The inn seems to be proud of its food, so I'd love to enjoy it the next time I visit the island!
The parking lot was also spacious and easy to park in.
I came from Kyoto.
It was my first time on Oki Island, and the scenery was even more beautiful than I had expected. I was surprised to see cows and horses grazing naturally, though!
I stayed at the inn, Yuushin, that day.
It was a homey inn with a wide selection of delicious food, just as I expected. And the price for just this dinner was very reasonable.
Thank you for the meal.
I stayed here for two nights as part of a journey tracing the footsteps of the emperors and retired emperors who were exiled to Oki Island during the Kamakura period.
Though the building is old, the interior is very clean and the common areas have been carefully appointed, making for a truly comfortable stay.
For dinner, we had delicious, unusual dishes such as turtle paws and rock mozuku seaweed, and the beer I ordered was ice cold, just the right amount.
On the second day, when there was no dinner, the surrounding restaurants were either closed or booked out, so I was grateful for the flexible response.
Thanks to them, it was a fulfilling three days and two nights where I was able to fully immerse myself in the romance of history and the great outdoors.
I would like to stay here again someday.
Located in the heart of the Urago district, this inn is conveniently located within walking distance of working spaces, the community library, and the tourist boat dock. The old-fashioned, nostalgic atmosphere of the building is well-cleaned. There is a water server and other small touches that are appreciated.
From the rooms facing the harbor, you can enjoy a view of Urago Bay.
The best thing about this inn is the amazing dinner. You will be very satisfied with the seasonal ingredients cooked to perfection.
The owner is also very friendly, making this an island inn on a remote island that you will want to return to again and again.
I visited the Oki UNESCO World Geopark in Nishinoshima and to climb Mount Takuhi. I stayed here for one night because it was reasonably priced for a solo traveler.
I took the ferry and used my own car to tour the island. The bus stop that runs around the island is also close to the inn, so I think it's convenient♪
For dinner, we had sashimi made from fish and shellfish that the innkeeper caught himself. The squid sashimi was sweet and delicious! The sea bream, red sea bream, and turban shell sashimi were also delicious. Being able to enjoy fresh seafood is what makes it so appealing.
There were no supermarkets or convenience stores near the inn, so I bought the sports drinks I needed in advance at a supermarket near Beppu Port.
It would be helpful for me, who does outdoor sports, to have a shared refrigerator
We stayed at Shimayado Yushin for two nights. The food was great and the owner was really friendly and welcoming. We really want to come back one day and go fishing together with the owner.
